“You want me to tell you the ending?”
I stood behind my table at the 1st annual Andy Fairchild Publishing Authors’ Event and Book Fair, the event hadn’t even begun yet, and here was a man asking me to give away the end of my novel.
“Well, I’ll probably never read it,” he said with a shrug.
I gave in and told him, concluding with, “It covers themes like redemption and standing for truth no matter what it costs.”
He looked me in the eye. “That is so wonderful.”
It was a good start to a great day.

“AS A CHRISTIAN AUTHOR, YOU HAVE A MISSION–TO HOPEFULLY INFLUENCE OTHERS FOR THE KINGDOM.”
DR. DAVID HASKELL
Throughout the day, authors and publishers shared their stories, and their passionate faith in God encouraged me so much. One author shared his testimony of being a prodigal brought back to the Father. One shared of how God’s Word shaped her book series.
All pointed to Christ and His faithfulness.
“WE DON’T WRITE FOR OURSELVES AND OUR OWN GLORY, BUT TO ‘TELL OF ALL HIS WONDROUS WORKS.'”
ANDREW MIKELSONS
I enjoyed connecting with authors and readers, swapping tales of our writing journeys and how we’ve seen God work. Some new subscribers joined the journey, my book made it into more readers’ hands, and I gained a beta reader for my next novel. Thank you, Heavenly Father!
“GOD HAD A PLAN THAT I COULD NOT SEE.”
DR. DAVID HASKELL
I came away inspired, ready to move forward in my writing. God works in ways we often don’t see in the moment, but when we look back it all becomes clear. That’s what I keep telling myself when I think about relaunching my first book two years from now; it seems strange to ‘start over’ only six months after its release.
But God has plans for me–and they are good.

“SATAN SAYS, ‘YOU AREN’T QUALIFIED; YOU DON’T KNOW ENOUGH.’ BUT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A TALENT TO SHARE.”

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this event, grateful for the encouragement to write for Christ and the Kingdom and the challenge to write even when it seems you have nothing to give, grateful for the connections made with writers and readers, and grateful for my sister’s presence and support.
I’m also grateful for the friend who came out to support me, and took the lovely photos in this post. Thank you, Rebecca!
‘Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.‘ 1 Timothy 1:17

This is a lovely post, TRQT.
Thank you!
I’m really glad the event was so good. Am I correct in thinking authors do more “behind the scenes” work and don’t always see a tangible evidence for keeping on going with their work? It’s always motivating to connect with others with the same goal in God’s kingdom. May God give you wisdom with future projects and events.
Thank you! Yes, there are often long periods of ‘silence’ as a writer, times when it seems like I’m writing with little fruit as a result. But God sees results differently than I do, and I’m so grateful for His inspiration in my projects!
Very neat! So grateful for the encouragement and gifts from above that our Heavenly Father gave you in this endeavor! Keep your eyes on Him!
Thank you, friend! <3
