Excerpts From a Writer’s Journal

By T.R.Q.T / February 20, 2026 / 4 Comments / Uncategorized

little glimpses of a long journey

June 19, 2019

… Speaking of books, somehow I’m stuck. Laurence seems to very much want to stay with his parents. I don’t blame him.

June 26, 2019

… I’m not stuck anymore. I’m almost done page 5.

Yep, I’ve written 4 ½ pages in two days.

Who ever would have thought.

[from today’s perspective, 4 1/2 pages isn’t a lot, especially because the notebook I used was about half the size of letter paper]

July 2, 2019

I wrote two and a half pages in my story tonight, that I’m ACTUALLY happy with.

August 3, 2019

I’m on page 65 of my story—WAHOO!!!

August 14, 2019

Well, I got feedback on ‘The Silver Plate’. Mostly good … Maybe my writing IS worth something.

[The Silver Plate is a mediaeval novel currently awaiting a rewrite, and you’ll hear more about it some day. The good feedback came from a publishing company]

March 19, 2020

Speaking of, I don’t think I wrote that I finished Voice of the Ashes. AMAZING. I’m rather proud of myself, though there’s still lots of editing to do. I’m hoping to get it published this year, but, as said earlier, as the Lord wills.

[my poor seventeen-year-old self didn’t realise that meant waiting another six years …]

January 4, 2021

… God wants me to write. He gives the words if I allow Him. And if He’s the one giving the words, why should I feel ashamed?

June 26, 2021

I reached 107,000 words in my book today. That’s around 350 average book pages. I never would have thought.

October 15, 2023

… yesterday I received a contract from a traditional publisher, Calla Press Publishing.

Wow.

I shake my head.

It’s so hard to believe that I finally reached this point …

… But all glory goes to God. He was behind this book all the way, tying together scenes with cords I didn’t notice until later, giving me inspiration to keep me going, and giving me the courage to place my reputation in His hands.

Thank You, God, for what YOU have done!
